Aston Martin Wiki

﷽
 ASSALAM-O-ALAIKUM

Aston Martin Limited is an English manufacturer of prestigious sports cars. The brand was founded by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford. Headquartered in Heydon, Warwickshire. The name of the company comes from the name of Aston-Clinton Hill, where one of the creators, Lionel Martin, won the 1913 Singer-10 race. Since 1994, it has been part of the Premier Automotive Group, a division of the Ford Motor Company, but in August 2006, Ford announced its intention to sell Aston Martin. In the second quarter of 2007, the Ford Motor Company sold Aston Martin to a consortium of investors led by the owner of Prodrive, a longtime fan and collector of Aston Martin cars, David Richards. The deal amounted to $ 925 million. In December 2012, the private investment fund Investindustrial invested £ 120 million in the company in exchange for a 37.5% stake. In 2013, Aston Martin signed a strategic partnership agreement with German automaker Daimler AG, the agreement provides for the joint development of a new V8 engine and assistance in the creation of next-generation Aston Martin cars.

In 2007, the volume of production amounted to 7224 cars, almost unchanged compared to 2006. The company is famous for the fact that most models are handmade. Each Aston Martin has a bronze tablet on which is written the name of the person who made and is responsible for a particular instance.

History
Base
Aston Martin was founded in 1913 by Lionel Martin and Robert Bamford. Initially, the founders combined their efforts as "Bamford & Martin" ( Engl.  Bamford & by Martin ). The first car, called the Aston Martin, was established in March 1915 by Martin, who established a 1.4-liter four-cylinder Coventry-Simplex ( Eng.  Coventry You-the Simplex ) on the chassis of the 1908 "Isotta-Fraschini". World War I prevented mass production. During the war years, the company produced no more than 14 cars a year. All cars were sold to Sopwich Airlines (English  Sopwith Aviation Company ).
Between World Wars
After World War I, Bamford rented the former stables to Abington Road, where five years later the second Aston Martin model appeared.
The Era of David Brown
After World War II, in 1947, the company was acquired by David Brown Limited, led by industrialist and longtime brand fan David Brown. It was he who added the initials “DB” to the designation of models. Together with Aston Martin, David Brown acquired Lagonda. The combined company became known as Aston Martin Lagonda Limited. The main dream of many Aston Martin owners, including David Brown, was to win one of the most popular races of the time - 24 hours of Le Mans. It was David Brown in 1959 who managed to achieve victory.
Change of Ownership
The company continued to experience financial difficulties and in 1972 was sold to the Birmingham-based consortium, Campany Development Limited ( eng.  Company Development Ltd. ). In 1975, the company was resold to North American entrepreneurs Peter Sprague and George Minden. The new owners equipped the plant with a modern line for the production of V8 Vantage cars in 1977, replaced by Volante in 1978 and Bulldog in 1980.
However, the company continued to experience financial difficulties. In 1987, the next owner of Aston Martin was the American concern Ford, which bought a 75% stake in the company.
In 1988, producing about 5,000 cars in 20 years, the company finally completed production of the V8 and provided Virage. Aston Martin Vantage was presented in 1992, and the next year the company updated the DB series by announcing the launch of the Aston Martin DB7.
Ford Era
In 1993, Ford took complete control of the company and transferred it to the Premier Automotive Group. At this time, significant investments are made in the production base. In 1994, Ford opened a new plant at Banbury Road in Bloxham. In 1995, the company produced 700 cars, in 1998 the two-thousandth DB7 was built, and in 2002 the six thousandths.
At the Detroit International Motor Show in 2003, the production of the DB7 successor, the DB9 model, began production and another new model, the AMV8 Vantage, was announced. Also in 2003, a factory was opened in Heydon.
In December 2003, Aston Martin announced a return to motorsport in 2005. Especially for this, a new English division was created. By Martin Racing Aston, which was subsequently merged with the company Prodrive ( Eng.  Prodrive's ) for the implementation of the program the DBR9. DBR9 participated in the Grand Touring (GT) class, including the 24 hours of Le Mans (which she won in 2007 and 2008).
Aston Martin Lagonda
In January 2020, as part of saving the company, a consortium of investors led by Canadian billionaire Lawrence Stroll, who became chairman of the board of directors, agreed to invest $ 500 million. from. (182 million investments and 318 million legal obligations) in exchange for 16.7% of the shares. Since 2021 owned Stroll team Formula 1 « Racing Point » will be the workhorse of the auto giant at least 10 years.
At the end of May 2020, it became known that the acting director, Andy Palmer, who had been acting since 2014, was dismissed from August 1, who was replaced by Tobias Moers, who previously worked at Mercedes-AMG. The leadership change occurred against the backdrop of a fall in the company's market value (from 4 billion pounds in October 2018 to 540 million as of May 22, 2020) and a decrease in sales due to the coronavirus epidemic.
